Bathroom Renovation Contractor in Kenilworth
Bathroom Renovations in Kenilworth
68 Projects Building Co works on both Kenilworths — small cottage bathrooms replanned to be usable, and flats where the drainage stack is shared and the trustees have to sign it off.
Your Local Kenilworth Bathroom Contractor
A Tiny Cottage Bathroom, or Someone Else's Ceiling
On the racecourse side of Kenilworth the bathroom is usually one small room in a cottage or a semi, and often the only one in the house. Swapping the fittings barely changes it. What changes it is going wall-hung throughout to get the floor back, losing the swing door for a slider, and moving where the shower and basin sit — plus dealing with the rising damp at the base of the wall, because these houses were built without a damp proof course.
Towards Main Road it is a different job entirely. The flats and townhouses are stacked, so your bathroom sits above someone else's ceiling on a common drainage stack that cannot be re-routed. That fixes where the toilet goes and makes the waterproofing somebody else's problem if it fails — which is why the scope goes to the trustees in writing before anything starts.

Making a Small Bathroom Work Harder
With limited square metres, every decision has to earn its place. These are the moves that make the biggest difference in a Kenilworth cottage or flat.
Walk-In Showers
Curbless, frameless glass showers that feel bigger and are far easier to clean.
Lit Recessed Niches
Built-in shelving with concealed LED strips — storage that doubles as a feature.
Feature Tiling
Fan-pattern, terrazzo, and mosaic tiling used to give one wall real presence.
Wall-Hung Everything
Toilets and vanities off the floor, because visible floor is what makes a small room read bigger.
Sliding & Cavity Doors
In a cottage bathroom a swing door can cost you the only place a vanity would fit.
Quiet Drainage
Lagged and boxed pipe runs, which in a semi or a flat matters as much as the finish does.
Why Choose Us
A Bathroom Contractor You Only Have to Phone Once
In a small bathroom there is no room for a trade to work around another trade's mistake, and in a flat there is no room for a dispute about whose waterproofing failed. Running the whole job ourselves means the sequence holds, and there is one contractor accountable for what happens above your neighbour's ceiling.
- One contractor for plumbing, electrical, tiling, joinery, and finishing
- Local team working across both halves of Kenilworth and the wider Southern Suburbs
- Small cottage bathrooms replanned rather than simply refitted
- Drainage noise through party walls treated as part of the job, not an afterthought
- Written scopes and quotes in a form trustees and managing agents can approve
- Written scope and fixed quote before demolition starts

More Than Bathrooms
Renovating the Rest of the Home?
Bathrooms are often the start of a bigger project. As a full building contractor in Kenilworth, we also handle kitchens, extensions, roofing and verandah repairs, and structural alterations — so one team can carry the whole renovation.
Bathroom Renovation FAQs for Kenilworth Owners
Replanning a tiny cottage bathroom, drainage noise through party walls, rising damp with no damp course, shared stacks in flats, trustee approval, timelines, and costs.
Do you renovate bathrooms throughout Kenilworth?
Yes, and the two halves of the suburb need quite different work. On the racecourse side we are mostly in heritage cottages and semis with one small bathroom; towards Main Road and Kenilworth Centre it is flats and townhouse complexes. We also work in neighbouring Claremont, Wynberg, and Rondebosch.
My cottage bathroom is tiny. Is it worth renovating at all?
Usually yes, but the gains come from replanning rather than replacing. In most Kenilworth cottages the original bathroom is small enough that swapping the fittings changes very little. Going wall-hung throughout, replacing a swing door with a slider, and reworking where the basin and shower sit can make the same square metres genuinely usable. We will tell you at the site visit whether the room can be improved meaningfully or whether the honest answer is to borrow space from next door.
My neighbour can hear our drainage through the party wall. Can that be fixed?
Yes, and a renovation is the right time to do it. In a semi the drainage often runs in or against the shared wall, and older installations have nothing damping them at all. While the wall is open we lag the pipe runs, box them properly, and where the layout allows we move the noisiest sections away from the shared wall entirely.
There is damp at the bottom of the bathroom wall. What causes it?
In the older Kenilworth cottages it is very often rising damp rather than a leak — these houses were built without a damp proof course, so moisture comes up through the wall from the ground. It matters because tiling over it simply hides it for a couple of years. We establish where the moisture is coming from before we tile, and treat that first.
I live in a complex. Can the bathroom be moved?
Within limits. Flats and townhouses in Kenilworth are usually stacked, so the bathrooms sit above one another and share a common drainage stack that cannot simply be re-routed. That fixes roughly where the toilet can go. Almost everything else — the shower, the bath, the basin, the storage — can move, and that is normally enough to transform the room.
Do I need permission from the body corporate?
For work inside your own unit usually not, but anything touching common property — the stack, the external walls, or the waterproofing between units — generally does. We give you a written scope you can put to the trustees or the managing agent, and we work to the complex's approved hours and access rules once it is signed off.
How long does a bathroom renovation take?
A single bathroom usually takes three to four weeks on site, and five to six if the layout or plumbing moves. In a complex, add a little for restricted working hours and for getting material in and rubble out through shared access.
How do I get a quote for my Kenilworth bathroom?
Get in touch to arrange a free site visit. We assess the room, the drainage, and the walls, discuss layout and finishes, and send you a written quote covering the full scope — in a format you can hand to trustees if the building needs it.
